I've been neglecting this
I got a kitty and I’m starting a comedy show in my very own back yard and I’m working full time and I’ve been neglecting this blog and I’m sorry okay guys
But look at the comics performing at my show!
my friend mikey mckernan is hosting it and he’s funny and nice and was the first person to book me on a show yeaah
I still don’t know how I got such an amazing line up I’m happy and proud and excited and nervous and that’s also why I’m not performing cause I’m going to be too frantic making sure everyone is okay
Hello there. I'm a steady and loyal fan of yours. You make my day. Just thought I should tell you that. This could be more awkward, so I'm going to make it so, by asking you: How do you get yourself outthere? Standup wise? I mean, I know there are open mic nights, but isn't there a way I can book a gig without any prior experience? I have hosted a few parties but never did stand up. What do you think? (:

I think it’s different for everybody and it’s kinda hard to get booked without doing some open mics beforehand (I say that even though I’ve never done an open mic.) For me, I have a friend I went to high school with who started a show and asked me if I wanted to be involved. And from doing his shows is where I got asked to do more shows. I think open mics are good though for the mechanics of stand up: making sure you’re comfortable on stage, timing, how comfortable you are with the mic etc.
Social networking helps a lot. Befriending other comics and going to as many shows as you can and finding out who books them. (sometimes the people who host aren’t necessarily the bookers) But sometimes before booking they ask to see a video of your set so make sure you record it no matter what. I say if you still can’t book a show start your own!! Hope this helped!! xo

this customer with an accent was trying to order an ice cream and struggled when pronouncing the flavor he wanted and before the transaction was complete he asked if he could buy cigarettes too and I said yeah and asked him what kind and he said marlboro lights. and I was like uh you can say that but you can’t say cookies and cream cmon dude.
